About Us
Typewriter Rebellion is a Canadian indie production company based in Victoria, British Columbia specializing in writing, directing, and producing women-focused scripted horror, fantasy and comedy genres. The company has produced three completed projects (2 short films, 1 TV Pilot) with several projects currently in development.
Co-founders Kelly Finerty and Dustin Finerty champion Canadian filmmaking, producing their projects locally with talent and crew from the Canadian West Coast. If they had a tagline, it would be “commercially weird with a dash of West Coast woo-woo”, where relationships and stories come first.

Kelly Finerty (she/her)

Kelly Finerty is a Canadian Director, writer, editor and producer based on Vancouver Island. Her work explores the raw life experiences of women through horror, fantasy, and comedy.
Emerging in 2015 as Producer for short film horror thriller 13 Days, her most recent work as writer/director/editor for television comedy Pilot Life with Dotty garnered production support from Telus Storyhive (2025) as one of the top 20 scripted films in British Columbia, and is her directorial debut. Her previous work as writer/producer for comedy short Imitates Life (2021) made the Canadian festival rounds, winning Best Film at Qualicum Beach Film Festival, and received worldwide licensing and distribution via Relay streaming service in 2025.
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Victoria.
Dustin Finerty (he/him)

Producer, Writer, Actor
Dustin Finerty is an award winning producer, screenwriter, and working Canadian actor based on Vancouver Island. Dustin emerged as a Canadian Producer in 2015 with his written and directed horror short film 13 Days - Typewriter Rebellion’s debut film with then Finerty Studios. In 2021, Dustin co-wrote and produced award winning short comedy Imitates Life, leading to his role producing TV Pilot Life with Dotty in 2025, in which he also stars as a villain we all love to hate, Mammoth Financial’s CEO Gary Jones.
Dustin studied film at Victoria Motion Picture School and graduated with distinction from the Screen Acting Program in 2004. His background in finance includes successful completion of the Investment Funds in Canada and LLQP courses as a Licensed Life Agent, and is currently enrolled with York University’s Osgoode Professional Development Certificate in Entertainment Law.
